In 2024, our goal is to raise US$70,000 with Tails of the World: Volume Three.

But we need your help!

Get Involved

Award-winning pet photographer Chohee Courtois has been selected as the official 2024 photographer and we’re now taking applications for limited edition Tails of the World: London photoshoots. These photoshoots will take place in and around the beautiful West London throughout August.

100% of these session fees are donated to Mayhew and one photo from each session is guaranteed to be included in the book. All proceeds from the book sales are donated to Geelong Animal Welfare Society. You’ll also have the opportunity to view and purchase keepsake photographic artwork from your unique pet photoshoot.

Held on Thursday and Saturday evenings in August - the dates will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis after the applications are accepted.

 FAQs

  • Any animal is welcome, as long as they can be outdoors safely - on leash if required.

  • The Full Experience option allows the owners to be included in the images, too. This option is for people who'd like a full photography experience resulting in a variety of different images to choose from, with the goal of purchasing your favourite images as tangible artwork or high resolution digital files.

  • If you chose Full Experience, anyone who lives in your household (furry or not) is welcome to participate in our session. In the interest of minimising distractions, however, we do ask that only those who will be in the photos come along. For Mini Session, the pet(s) who will be photographed and their owner/handler only, please.

  • The sessions will be held every Thursday and Saturday evening (7 pm) throughout August. Once your application is successful you will receive a link to reserve your date.

  • We'll try our best to hold our session at the agreed-upon date and time. Considering the very changeable London weather, we will check the forecast in the morning of the session day and if constant rain is highly predicted, we will reschedule. And if you or our furry model is feeling unwell, please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan for another date.

  • While it's always a good idea to work on your dog's sit-and-stay skills before our session, it's not a requirement as we have worked with more challenging dogs and have the techniques to create engaging images regardless of the dog's obedience level.

  • We completely understand - the world can be a scary place for all of us sometimes. If your dog is nervous or reactive, please do state this in your application form so we can choose a quiet location that receives little foot traffic. If you prefer, we can also rent a completely private location for a small fee.

  • Well, then let's show that energy in the images by taking more action shots! One of the benefits of hiring a pet-specific photographer is that we know how to work with "hyper" models and still deliver gorgeous images, jam-packed with personality. It's also generally a good idea to exercise your dog just before the session.

  • Absolutely. Some of the dogs that we photograph stay on lead throughout the entire session for their safety. The lead can be edited out from any images that you order.

  • We can't guarantee that we'll be able to remove a harness or gentle leader from your final image, especially large harnesses that cover the majority of the dog’s chest. If your dog usually walks in a harness or a gentle leader, we recommend using it to walk to the session and between shooting locations, but swapping it for a regular flat collar while we photograph. If you have a sighthound or other dog that can easily slip out of a flat collar, martingale collars work better and are more photogenic than harnesses.

  • The book will be available to order online with worldwide shipping in December 2024. We may organise a bulk order if there is enough interest from the participants.

“Chohee was wonderful to work with and managed to get the best out of our cats, despite the fact they were being a little uncooperative! A great experience and we would 100% recommend Chohee to anyone looking for beautiful photos that really capture your pet’s essence.”

Alice - Morag & Llew the cats
